Skateboarder killed in vehicle crash in Longmont identified

A skateboard killed Aug. 3 on East Third Avenue in Longmont has been identified by the Boulder County Coroner as 22-year-old Isaiah Bielling.

A news release from the coroner’s office had no other information.

Police said a skateboarder was killed early Aug. 3 when he was hit by a 21-year-old driving a vehicle on Third Avenue. Police were called to the crash at 1:27 a.m. on Aug. 3 on Third Avenue between Lashley and Alpine streets, according to Longmont Public Safety spokesperson Robin Ericson.

The driver of the vehicle was driving westbound on Third Avenue when he struck the man on the skateboard, according to police.

The skateboarder was not in a designated intersection or in a crosswalk, and it had not been determined which direction he was traveling, police said. They believed he was in the left lane for westbound traffic when he was struck.

Police are still investigating, Ericson said. At the time of the accidentt several factors were under investigation, including the speed of the vehicle and whether drugs or alcohol played a factor, she said..
