It's been a breathtaking seven days for the Silver Creek softball team and the excitement isn't over yet.

A 3-0 opening-round playoff win over Pueblo Central on Tuesday set up a third and final 2020 matchup with Holy Family in the Class 4A state quarterfinals Thursday afternoon. The game time has yet to be announced but will be posted to the Colorado High School Activities Association bracket when available.

After coming back from a 5-0 deficit to win in the final inning against Mead on Thursday, Silver Creek lost  4-3 in 10 innings Saturday at Holy Family. The loss gave the Tigers a regular-season Northern Colorado Athletic Conference crown but now the Raptors are trying to get the last laugh in the postseason.

Silver Creek will go as far as ace senior Maddie Kuehl can take it. She's the best hitter on the team and has pitched almost every important inning this season for the Raptors. The Loyola-Marymount University commit struck out 15, walked none and surrendered only three hits Tuesday against Pueblo Central. Sophomore leadoff hitter Isabelle Martinez had three hits for the Raptors in Tuesday’s win.

Holy Family on Tuesday won its opening round matchup with Mesa Ridge 13-0.

Mead also made the 16-team Class 4A playoffs. The No. 4 Mavericks will face No. 13 Palisade at 4 p.m. today in a first-round game.
