Ballots for the June 30 primary election have been mailed to all eligible voters, the Boulder County Elections Division announced via an email Tuesday.

In the same email, elections officials also reminded voters they don’t have to wait until Election Day to cast their ballots: ”Voting early helps reduce campaign phone calls and texts. It also helps the county process ballots throughout the election period.”

Ballots can be returned at 16 24-hour mail ballot drop boxes across Boulder County, including six in Longmont.

Unaffiliated voters were mailed both major party ballots, but can only vote and return one, according to the email, which states if two voted ballots are returned, none of the votes/ballots can be counted. Voters are asked to tear and discard/recycle the unvoted ballot.

The Elections Division also urged people in households with more than one voter to ensure they vote the correct ballot and return it in the corresponding pre-printed envelope.

Those interested in learning more about processes used to ensure “an efficient, accurate, and secure election — even during the COVID-19 pandemic” are invited to join an online elections community presentation at 5:30 p.m. June 17.

The question-and-answer style session, which is expected to last about an hour, will include information about the June primary and the November General Election, ballot processing basics, voter statistics and election security, according to the email. Safety procedures to protect voters, election judges and staff during the pandemic also will be covered. RSVP is required by June 16. The Elections Division will send login directions for the webinar about an hour prior to the event.

Vote centers for in-person voting (with COVID-19 related safety precautions) will open on June 22. In Longmont, the vote center will be at the Boulder County St. Vrain Community Hub, 515 Coffman St. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 22-26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 27, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 29 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 30.

Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. June 30  to be counted.
