The NCAR fire has been downgraded from a Type 3 to a Type 4 level fire as fire crews continue to contain the fire.

In a press conference today, city of Boulder Incident Commander and Division Chief of Wildfire Brian Oliver said the city of Boulder now will be the only jurisdiction working on the fire containment. Crews have determined that the fire is now 80% contained and the lines held to 190 acres burned.

No structure burns or injuries have been reported with this fire.

Oliver said a crew of 70 firefighters would be working on the fire today.

The weather is cool with expected rain in the area. "This is great for the fire, but not so great for the crew," Oliver said.

The main concern today is keeping firefighters safe in wet and slippery conditions while exposing hot spots to the moisture in the air. Oliver said if conditions get too dangerous for crew, they will pull back as needed.

As rain hits the fire, the public can expect to see smoke from the fire. Since the fire is not out completely, some flames may also be seen.
