Each year the city of Longmont hosts its annual Turkey Trot.
This morning, racers from all over Longmont and beyond adorned their cold-weather racing gear to line up for either the 10k or 2-mile race.
The start and finish line was tucked in behind Altona Middle School while vendors occupied the school's outdoor basketball area.
According to a registration officer at the event, an estimated 1,200 to 1,300 people registered for the event, as she looked at a stack of papers from the day's registrants.
Racers lined up at one of two starting lines — depending on which race they signed up for. Parents with strollers, young children, dogs were among those ready to head to the finish line. Some participants really got into the spirit of the event with turkey hats and autumn-colored tutus.
There were 318 finishers for the 10k race and 674 for the 2-mile.
