Ten years have passed since the last time the city of Longmont has updated its website. Recently the city of Longmont site launched, providing a simpler way to navigate and search on mobile and PC devices, providing a new utility portal, ADA accessible and Spanish content.

“Our website is often the first place anyone goes to learn about Longmont, so it’s vital for a new user to be able to quickly and easily find what they’re looking for,” said Assistant City Manager Sandi Seader. “We wanted to give our visitors a clearer layout, a better search engine and a good experience in finding what they need, however, they choose to access the site.”

The new site will keep the same web address at www.longmontcolorado.gov.

In the past, the city’s website divided information based on department structure. For example, you might only find the information you need about a program for the library after navigating to the library’s landing page. With the changes, customers can more easily find the information they seek through search.

“By creating services that are not dependent on department, customers can find answers to their questions more quickly and efficiently,” Seader said.

One of the biggest changes residents will see is a new utilities portal. Recently the city of Longmont has sent out several notifications requesting auto-pay and online users to set up new accounts. Residents need new accounts because the city has moved to a new software system for its utility and was not able to transfer previous account information.

The new system does require customers to have their account number. If you do not know your account number you can call the city of Longmont and they will give it to you. Those who need further assistance can call Utility Billing at 303-651-8664.

If customers prefer a paper bill, they will not see a change in billing options due to the new system, Seader said.

The city has made its content more accessible to its Spanish-speaking residents by providing content in Spanish. This addition is still being refined, Seader said. Customers can toggle between English and Spanish by clicking a button on the top right side of the page.

“We’re always looking to improve the service we provide to our residents and businesses,” Seader said. “This is another step in our continuing effort to make a better Longmont for everyone.”

The city of Longmont would like to hear residents’ feedback on the new site. Customers can rate the site by visiting the homepage and also share any issues they might experience.

“We designed this website based on user testing and we hope it works great,” Seader said.
