The Longmont Theatre Company (LTC) has announced its 66th season of live stage productions. The 2023-24 Season will feature six shows, including the LTC's Family Holiday Series. In November, the youth theatre will do two shows in one with ‘Twas a Night before Christmas and following an Intermission, A Charlie Brown’s Christmas.

The season will open with the Moon Over Buffalo on September 8. The madcap comedy centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in an old run-down theatre in Buffalo, New York with 5 actors. They get word a famous director is coming to see the show and this could be their last chance for stardom. A hilarious comedy of what could go wrong, goes wrong.

Following the Moon Over Buffalo will be a special holiday combination of ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas and A Charlie Brown’s Christmas performed by the youth theatre.

Closing the holiday season will be Winter Wonderettes which opens November 24. When Santa turns up missing, singers use their talent and creative ingenuity to save the holiday party. The musical features ’60s versions of holiday classics such as “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Run, Rudolph, Run,” and “Winter Wonderland.”

In the new year, the comedy I Hate Hamlet will open on January 26. In this comedy, a television star Andrew Rally is about to start rehearsals to play Hamlet and he is terrified. Unsure of himself and worried about his career, Andrew doesn’t know what to do. In the midst of his confusion, he is visited by the ghost of legendary actor John Barrymore. Barrymore explains that all actors who take on the role are visited and mentored by their predecessors, and that he cannot leave Andrew until he takes the stage as Hamlet.

Then in March, Nana’s Naughty Knickers will open on the 15th. In this comedy, Bridget and her grandmother are about to become roommates. However, what Bridget saw as a unique opportunity to stay with her favorite nana in New York for the summer quickly turns into an experience she’ll never forget. It seems her sweet grandma is running an illegal boutique from her apartment, selling handmade naughty knickers to every senior citizen in the five-borough area.

The season's finale is temporarily called the Magnificent May Musical. Due to contract restrictions, LTC cannot publicly announce the production until early 2024. According to LTC President Faye Lamb, the show is a well-known Broadway musical that recently completed a national tour.

“It’s a favorite musical of everyone and we are excited to be able to bring it to the Longmont stage,” said Lamb.

The historic 300-seat theatre is located in downtown Longmont at 513 Main Street. Tickets are available at longmonttheatre.org
