Nepali Jatra at Longmont Museum and Cultural Center

Nepali Jatra is an event that celebrates and highlights Nepali culture. 

The Jatra will feature the Lakhey dance with live traditional music, various cultural dance performances from a variety of cultural and ethnic groups and exhibits which highlight various aspects of Nepali culture. Jatra will be hosted at the Longmont Museum from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m on July 10. 

The highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Living Goddess, Kumari. This is an opportunity to learn more about a centuries old Nepali tradition, which is still practiced today. At the event there will be a replica of the Living Goddess which patrons will be able to photograph. The event is completely free and open to the public. 

 

July 7

Drop-In Teen Gaming Club at the City of Longmont Public Library  

Every Thursday in June and July from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. compete, cooperate, and collaborate on our Nintendo Switch featuring a selection of games for 4-8 players. This drop-in program will be held in our newly renovated teens-only space. All levels of gamers are welcome. The event will be  In-person in the Teen Space, no registration necessary! It is exclusive to 6th-12th graders. 

Adults Creative Nights at City of Longmont Public Library: DIY photobook and bookbinding

From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Bring some of your favorite memories (4'' x 6'' or 5'' x 7'' and up to 30 pictures) and book bind them into a fancy photo book style. The book binding will be a Japanese technique. Registration REQUIRED. Only 15 spots available.

Free outdoor concerts at the Longmont Museum: Foxfeather

Free outdoor concerts are held in the Longmont Museum’s outdoor grassy courtyard from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. Alcohol and concessions available for sale (only alcohol purchased on site is allowed). The event is free. A sultry alt-Americana band founded in Boulder in 2013, Foxfeather has become a local staple along the Front Range in addition to touring nationally. Beginning with a soulful lyrical base and bolstered by strong blues-rock instrumentals, Foxfeather’s unique sound captivates their audiences. July 8 

Drop-In Family Story Time at the City of Longmont Public Library 

The event begins at 10 a.m. and consists of a 30-minute Friday fun storytime designed for children of all ages and their grown-ups! This storytime will include longer picture books, so expect a little more sitting and listening. Silly singing and movement will also be included. Meet us in the Library's Meeting Rooms, located by the West/Kimbark Street Entrance.

Booktok Book talk for Teens at City of Longmont Public Library

The event will begin at 12 p.m. and end at 1 p.m. It is exclusive to 6th through 12th graders, and will be in-person in the Teen Space. It will occur on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of June and July. The book club for people who want to read what they like. No matter what you're reading, come enjoy pizza with other teens, get recommendations, and talk about your latest literary obsession!

Longmont East Side Haunting History Tour 

Join tour guide Dori Spence, a medium, for the Haunting History Tour and hear the life stories of locals and legends. Some gone, but not forgotten! Others forgotten, but not gone? On the second Fridays from April to November, there will be an East Side Haunting History tour at 7 p.m. A single ticket is $20 and two tickets are $35. Seniors (65+) and students (12-16) receive a reduced price at $15 a ticket. If you would like to go to both tours there is a combo price at $10 per person. Stand Up Paddle Board Intro at Angles Sports Ski, Board and Fly Fishing Shop

For the total beginner who has little or no experience. Learn about the differences in boards and paddles, how to transport & use your SUP, and the Colorado safety regulations you must abide by. Second half of class is at McIntosh Lake, transportation not provided. For ages 18 and up. The class will cost $65 for residents and $81.25 for non-residents. The class will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Keep an Ion Science: Hands on science workshop for kids at City of Longmont Public Library

For First through Fourth graders. Participants can drop-in at one of the following times: 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m., or 2:30 p.m. There is a maximum of 25 kids per time slot. No registration required, first-come first-served. Join us for a 30-minute fun, interactive science program led by teen scientists! This program is open to kids entering 1st through 4th grades accompanied by an adult. If the time slot is full, we will do our best to get you into the next one. Be sure to come with a curious mind and excitement to learn new things!

Artist in Action! At Old Town Marketplace

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Come upstairs in the Old Town Marketplace and watch a professional artist painting at her easel (or floor, or wall…) You can also check out her gallery with originals, prints and greeting cards for sale. Demystify (or add to) the magic of the creation of a painting!

Creative Crawl: Spin some wool with the Longmont Yarn Shoppe Spinners at Longmont Yarn Shoppe

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. the Longmont Yarn Shoppe Spinning community will be in front of the shop spinning fiber on wheels and drop spindles. Join in the fun and try a hand at using a drop spindle!

July 10 

LOCO Ukulele Jam with Brian Rezac! At Bootstrap Brewing  

Every Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Bootstrap Brewing hosts a Ukulele jam. Whether you want to learn how to play the Ukulele or already do and want to join the fun, wipe off your uke and join in- it's blast! Host Brian Rezac has extras you can borrow. Or, just come enjoy a beer and watch. All ages and levels are welcome.

Dogs Enjoy Afternoon Reading (DEAR) at City of Longmont Public Library

From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. come to the library and enjoy this free program designed for new readers and kids who want to practice their reading with a non-judgmental, furry audience a.k.a. a trained therapy dog. Each child reads at their own pace to one or more of our friendly dogs. Parents, guardians, and siblings are welcome to read to or help newer readers. A parent must be present for kids 9 years or younger. No registration is necessary, but please check-in with the staff member at the event to get on the list to read, sometimes there is a little wait. We will have a selection of books on hand to read or you can bring your own! Each dog is accompanied by a handler to form a therapy team. Our handlers are with the dogs at all times to make sure a safe and calm environment for everyone. All of our teams are tested, registered and insured through a nationally recognized program.

Mystery Detective Club for third and fifth graders at City of Longmont Public Library

Participants will meet in the  Library Meeting Rooms. The event is reserved for incoming 3rd through 5th graders only. Do you love mysteries? Is getting a clue exciting? Are you going into 3rd through 5th grades? Then you should join our new Mystery Detectives Club! Join us from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to practice your sleuthing/mystery-solving skills, play games and talk about your favorite mystery books. Drop-In Bilingual Storytime at the City of Longmont Public Library 

On Monday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. join us for stories and songs in Spanish and English for children of all ages! All aged children with a grown-up are welcome, but this storytime is best for 3 years and older. Meet us in the Library's Meeting Rooms, located by the West/Kimbark Street Entrance.

Visualizing Physics: Art with STEM Summer Camp with Gabi at Firehouse Art Center

July 11 through July 15 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. come to the STEM summer camp. This summer camp is an Art class first and foremost, with art creation as our main focus. Exploration of STEM concepts and ways of thinking are included in our art-making journey. Each session will encompass Visual Arts instruction and also geeky Science, Math, Engineering, and Tech themes! For kids aged 7 to 12-years-old. July 12 

Guided Hike in Rocky Mountain National Park hosted by Angles Sports Ski, Board and Fly Fishing Shop 

Join us on a hiking adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park. Learn about the flora, fauna, geography, and other great locations in the park and around CO. Be prepared to hike 2-4 miles and see receipt for what you need to pack. Price is per day and includes admission to Rocky Mountain National Park. Meet in Estes Park at 10 a.m. and is expected to end at 1 p.m. More details will be distributed on receipt once booked. The event will cost $120 for residents and $150 for non-residents. 

Summer Kids’ Film Series: Lady and the Tramp (Disney 1955, G) at Longmont Museum

From Disney classics to recent blockbusters, enjoy a Tuesday morning movie with your little ones in our Stewart Auditorium with popcorn this summer. Your ticket gets you $1 off the hands-on “Tipi to Tiny House” exhibit too! Buy tickets ahead; these movies sell out. The movie begins at 10 a.m. Tickets are $3 for movie only, $5 for popcorn and juice box to be included. Children ages one and under get in for free, tickets can be purchased here. Drop-In Cricut Paper Craft and Design Exploration at City of Longmont Public Library

From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. join us this summer to play around with the Cricut and Cricut Design Space to make a project of your choice. Explore what you can do with paper and glue or vinyl and an iron. We will use the time to research and discover projects, pull projects together in Design Space and then execute a finished piece. We will meet in the Teen Space within the library and is exclusive to tweens and teens. You may bring t-shirts or other textiles from home to embellish and the Library will provide limited crafty supplies.

Karaoke with Nic at Bootstrap Brewing! 

From 6-9 p.m. join Nic at Bootstrap Brewing for a fun-night of Karaoke! Open Chess Night at the City of Longmont Public Library 

Tuesdays are Open Chess Night at the Longmont Public Library! We will have some tables set aside on the 2nd floor for playing with chess sets available. However, you may bring your own set. The event will occur on the second floor of the library. It opens at 6 p.m. and goes until 7:30 p.m. when games need to be wrapped up in time for closing at 8 p.m. Open to all ages, but those 16 and younger must have an adult with them at all times. Evenings will be informal and there will be no instruction on how to play (we do have books on the subject)!

Drop-In Baby Storytime at the City of  Longmont Public Library 

The reading starts at 10 a.m., get ready for an interactive storytime designed for infants to age 2 and their grownup! Enjoy 20 minutes of short stories, songs, rhymes, bouncing, and fun for children and adults. Baby Storytime is a great way to build language, social-emotional, and pre-literacy skills! Sip N’ Stitch with Longmont Yarn Shoppe at St. Vrain Cidery

Join us on the 2nd Wednesday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. each month this summer as we Sip 'N Stitch together. Each month we rotate to a different venue around town. July 14 

Social Emotional Circle Time for 3 to 5-year-olds at City of Longmont Public Library

Every Thursday in June and July from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event is geared towards kids aged 3 to 5-years-old and their caregivers. Identifying and controlling big emotions can be hard, especially for young children! Kid Connects In the Neighborhood, a program through Mental Health Partners, will be partnering with the Longmont Library to provide a space for children and caregivers to learn how to identify big emotions and discuss ways to manage those feelings. This will be a fun interactive time for us all to explore and express our feelings! No registration necessary and Spanish translation available. For more information click here.

Come visit Crackpots, from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a  Paint Your Own Pottery Studio! For this event, our littlest Crackpots (Ages 2 to 6 years old) will read a story and paint a project to go with it. It’s a super fun activity to get their little creative gears going.

Stand Up Paddle Board Advanced at Angles, Sports Ski, Board and Fly Fishing Shop

Veronica May Live Music at 300 Suns Brewing 

From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. join us for Second Saturday Creative Crawl Live Music. Veronica May is a blend of music and madness. Plugging in and digging in on her electric guitar or dragging her fingers across sandpaper on the body of her acoustic guitar. She builds layers of acoustic elements not often heard from the instrument.

Peruvian Festival at Sandstone Ranch Park

Our festival will take place on Sunday July 17 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. For 21 years we have celebrated the Independence of Peru in the City of Longmont. Peruvian Gastronomy, typical dances, sports and a lot of training for the whole family will be at the event. The event is totally free. Clara Nulty Artist Talk at Firehouse Art Center

From 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Clara Nulty will discuss how she manipulates negative space, substrates, and surface texture to allude to personal narrative, shared experiences, and forgotten memories.Firehouse artist talks give the community a chance to delve deeper into the artist's creative process. They offer the artist an opportunity to share background information allowing viewers to gain a better understanding of the art on the gallery walls. Attendees are welcome to ask questions at the end of the talk, as well as tour the new exhibit with the artist at the end of the talk.

Lotería Mexicana at City of Longmont Public Library

From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Come with your whole family to play Loteria Mexicana! The "money" we bet is chocolate, and prizes include bilingual books and little giveaways from local Mexican markets. This program is bilingual and family-friendly - all ages are welcome! No registration is required.
