Longmont Library consortium to check out 1 million digital materials for the second year

This year the consortium recorded 981,000 e-materials to date.

Longmont Public Library is part of the Flatiron Consortium, including 11 libraries across the Front Range. Together the libraries on pace to reach 1 million checkouts, matching its record-breaking year in 2022.

“This milestone illustrates the continued growth and importance of Library lending of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eNewspapers and other digital media, as well as the library’s success in serving all members of the community,” a news release from the city of Longmont stated.

This year the consortium recorded 981,000 e-materials to date. In 2022, 1,007,802 digital items were checked out. Digital checkouts in 2021 set a trend upward at 971,645.

“Longmont Public Library has been providing readers 24/7 access to eBooks and eAudiobooks for several years through the award-winning Libby app. The large collection serves readers of all ages and interests, and usage has grown every year,” the news release stated. 

The New Yorker was the highest-circulating digital title borrowed so far in 2023 with over 1,000 checkouts.
