Longmont has introduced RIDE Longmont, a new on-demand transit service aimed at improving local transportation.

The service provides residents with a convenient and affordable way to travel across the city.

How RIDE Longmont Works

RIDE Longmont operates six days a week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

For December, the service offers extended hours until midnight on Fridays, Saturdays, and New Year’s Eve.

This makes it especially convenient for late-night travel during the holiday season.

Riders can book their trips using the RIDE Longmont app or by calling a dedicated phone line.

The service is accessible for those with bicycles or wheelchairs, ensuring inclusivity for all.

Once a ride is booked, the app provides details about the pick-up location, which might be a short walk away.

Affordable and Accessible Transportation

At just $2 per ride, RIDE Longmont is a budget-friendly option for transportation within the city.

Students, seniors, and individuals with disabilities can enjoy discounted fares of $1 per trip.

To encourage early use, all rides are free until January 9.

The service also connects passengers to the city’s mobility hub, where they can transfer to regional bus routes for longer journeys.

This makes RIDE Longmont a useful link between local destinations and regional transportation options.

Funding and Future Plans

The project is funded by $450,000 from the Regional Transportation District (RTD) for 2024, with $1 million in additional federal support.

Funding for 2025 and 2026 is already secured, ensuring the service's sustainability in the coming years.

City leaders see RIDE Longmont as an important step in addressing gaps in public transportation.

By offering an affordable and flexible transit solution, the city hopes to reduce traffic congestion and make it easier for residents to travel within and beyond Longmont.
