Longmont is preparing to commemorate Veterans Day with a parade, events, and special discounts for veterans throughout Colorado. The party starts on Monday morning with an American Legion-organized parade through downtown. As a way to show respect and appreciation for those who have served, several Colorado companies are also giving away freebies and discounts.
Veterans Day Parade in Longmont
Longmont will celebrate Veterans Day on Monday with a community-centered parade through downtown, honoring those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The parade kicks off at 11:11 a.m. from Longs Peak Avenue and Main Street, a symbolic time chosen to reflect the historical significance of the armistice that ended World War I on November 11.
The parade route will head south on Main Street until reaching Fourth Avenue, then turn back north to Longs Peak Avenue via Kimbark Street.
Longmont’s American Legion Post 32 is coordinating the parade, with plans for a vibrant procession including local veterans, marching bands, and other groups paying tribute to veterans.
Community members are encouraged to line the streets, show support, and cheer on participants in this heartfelt tribute.
Longmont American Legion Events for Veterans
In addition to organizing the parade, Longmont’s American Legion Post 32 will host a series of special events for veterans throughout the day.
The day starts early with a Veterans Day breakfast held at Longs Peak Middle School from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m., offering a welcoming meal for veterans and their families. This breakfast serves as a time for veterans to come together in fellowship, share stories, and feel celebrated.
Local high school band members who participated in the march will be served lunch by American Legion members following the parade, commemorating their involvement in the celebration.
From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Post 32 will hold a formal dinner banquet where veterans and their families can unwind and enjoy a special meal.
City of Boulder Veterans Day Closures and Facilities
While Longmont holds its parade and events, neighboring Boulder will observe Veterans Day with several municipal closures.
All City of Boulder administrative facilities and Age Well Centers will be closed for the holiday, giving city employees time to observe and reflect on Veterans Day. However, many public facilities will remain open for residents and visitors.
Boulder’s recreation centers, including the North, East, and South Boulder Community Centers, will be open during their regular hours.
The Boulder Reservoir will also welcome visitors, with normal hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., while city parks will operate as usual from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Parking will be free on city streets, as well as in city-owned lots and parking garages, providing convenient options for those out celebrating or attending events on Veterans Day.
