Republican Congressman Ken Buck announced that he will resign from his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives effective March 22.
"It has been an honor to serve the people of Colorado's 4th District in Congress for the past 9 years. I want to thank them for their support and encouragement throughout the years. Today, I am announcing that I will depart Congress at the end of next week. I look forward to staying involved in our political process, as well as spending more time in Colorado and with my family."
Buck was elected to the House in Nov. 2014 after serving as the district attorney for Weld County, the Chief of the Criminal Division for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado and a prosecutor at the Department of Justice.
In November, Buck announced that he would not seek reelection in the 2024 race. He said that his decision to not run again was based on the Republican party not focusing on solving the big issues.
Buck did not state a reason for leaving early.
