LONGMONT, CO –City Council At-Large candidate Jake Marsing will host a public Early Childhood Town Hall on Saturday, June 28 at 10:00 AM at Stephen Day Park, focused on addressing Longmont’s growing childcare and early education crisis. The event will feature special guest Kaycee Headrick, CEO of the Early Childhood Council of Boulder County (ECCBC), one of the region’s leading voices on early childhood issues.
“Longmont families are paying more for childcare than they would for in-state tuition at CU Boulder. That’s not just unsustainable, it’s unacceptable,” Marsing said. “This crisis impacts parents, providers, and most of all, our kids. We need local leadership that treats early childhood education as the essential infrastructure it is.”
As highlighted in his recent Times-Call op-ed, Marsing has made early childhood education a centerpiece of his campaign, drawing on his own family’s experience navigating the cost and availability of care in Longmont. This event is part of his commitment to community-driven policymaking and meaningful public dialogue on key issues.
Kaycee Headrick brings decades of expertise and advocacy to the conversation as head of ECCBC, a nonprofit dedicated to improving early childhood systems across Boulder County. She will provide data, context, and insights into the structural challenges facing families and providers today.
The town hall is open to the public and will include time for Q&A. It is family-friendly and designed to engage parents, grandparents, educators, childcare providers, and anyone invested in building a stronger future for Longmont’s youngest residents.
