Comedian Vir Das is set to perform at the University of Colorado Boulder's Glenn Miller Ballroom on Nov. 7.
The performance will also feature a moderated question and answer following the performance.
Tickets for the event are $2 for students, $5 for faculty and staff, and $10 for the general public and are available online.
“We selected Vir Das as a speaker because we thought he stood interestingly at the intersection of comedy and culture,” said Marya Miften, speakers coordinator for the Cultural Events Board, which is student-run. “He uses stand-up comedy to address social issues, touching on serious topics such as cultural appropriation and representation, but simultaneously discusses lighter, funnier topics. He can tackle important topics through stand-up comedy, resonating with our goal of encouraging respectful dialogue and understanding of cultural differences among students. Through his work, he demonstrates how humor can be a powerful tool for connecting with and embracing one's own culture, making him an ideal choice to engage with our campus community.”
Since getting his start as a stand-up comedian in India, Dias has performed as past of four Netflix specials in addition to performing internationally.
His latest special on Netflix, Landing, premiered on Dec. 26, 2022.
