For their sixth anniversary, Longmont’s GrossenBart Brewery unleashes a Tsunami.
The Longmont craft brewery is throwing a summer music jam and belated sixth anniversary party this afternoon.
According to GrossenBart owner Taylor Wise, the brewery’s sixth anniversary was in December 2020 but capacity restrictions and COVID concerns led to delaying a large celebration.
“We’re going to make up for lost time a little. I’m looking forward to six more years,” Wise said. “The party should be a lot of fun.”
Festivities kick off at 4 p.m. with live music and three new beer releases.
Tony Crank starts off the music at 4 p.m., followed by the Scott Ramsaur and then Idlewhile closes the night off.
The 2020 Barleywine, a sweet and potent brew aged 8 months in Weller bourbon barrels, leads off the beer releases. The second is what Wise called the Winter Warmer, a malty beer aged in bourbon barrels from Boulder Spirits.
The third release is the new Tsunami tropical IPA, a collaboration with Lafayette’s Liquid Mechanics Brewing.
“This is our third collaboration with Liquid Mechanics, all IPAs so far. Taylor wanted something more tropical forward beer,” said GrossenBart brewer Nicole Reiman. “The last one was called Toronado, so we’ve got a bit of a tropical storm theme going on. I used some interesting hops I hadn’t used before. The Calypso hops gave it a banana flavor that gives it an almost smoothie quality.”
