GOLDEN — The Jefferson County Communications Center Authority (Jeffcom 911), an emergency communications center that serves Jefferson and Clear Creek Counties, announced on February 6 that the grand opening ceremony for its new facility will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 20. The communications center is currently located on Allison Parkway near Lakewood City Center, but will be moving to 440 Indiana Street, in Golden.

Jeffcom 911 is one of the largest emergency communications centers in the country, providing dispatch services to 31 police, fire, and emergency medical agencies. The center moved into its current facility in 2018.

The new facility in Golden is designed to enhance emergency dispatch, response, and public safety provided by Jeffcom 911. According to Jeffcom 911’s website, the communications center is “revolutionizing 911 across the nation” and the center “actively seeks to implement bleeding-edge technologies and workflows.” One of Jeffcom 911’s main priorities is to make 911 modern, efficient, and adaptive.

According to Jeff Streeter, the executive director of Jefferson County Communications Center Authority, operations will officially begin to move inside the new facility starting on February 24. It will likely take five to ten days to complete the transfer, he said.

“We were bursting at the seams at our previous location, so the larger facility will allow us room to better provide services,” Streeter said. “Technologies change at such a fast pace, so we will have all new systems and AI technology in the new facility.”
