El Comite De Longmont announced Lisa Moreno as its new executive director on Friday.
Moreno worked for the Boulder County Community Services Department where she co-led the Boulder County Behavioral Health Planning Team and produced the Behavioral Health Roadmap. She also served as the vice president of programs at the Community Foundation Boulder County where she led the philanthropic responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Cal-Wood and LeftHand wildfires and the 2021 mass shooting.
Moreno has dedicated her career to advancing equity and social justice at the national and local levels. She was a leader behind the passage of the first Violence Against Women Act in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“We owe much gratitude to the Search Committee for their hard work in recruiting the candidates for interviewing by the board and community stakeholders. The board of directors is excited to welcome Lisa to El Comite. Lisa will help us advance our mission and lead this critically important, trusted community organization in its strategic goals, as well as initiate a capital campaign, “ said Becky Birkelo, El Comite President of the Board of Directors.
Moreno will begin on Nov. 29.
