The Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center (CTRC) is excited to announce the return of its beloved annual Horse Show, October 19 from 9:30am - 2pm at the CTRC facility in southeast Longmont.

On hold since the pandemic, the CTRC Horse Show provides a unique opportunity for riders of all ages and skill levels to showcase their skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. This year, more than two dozen riders will be taking part in the show along with an All-Star lineup of horses: Beasty, Magic, Saunder, Roarke, Firecracker, Trigger, Otayah, Weezer, Honky Tonks, Patron, Handsome, Molly, Doc. Along with the horses, CTRC’s mini horse Carmella and mini donkey Dilly will be doing a public meet and greet during the program.

As part of the announcement, CTRC is seeking local businesses and community members to become sponsors of this important event, helping to ensure the continued success of all its equine-assisted programs. Sponsorship offers a chance for organizations to align their values with CTRC’s mission and support individuals with disabilities in their journey towards greater physical, psychological, and social well-being.

"After years without a horse show due to the pandemic, we’re excited to bring back this meaningful event for our riders and the CTRC community,” said Michele Bruhn, Executive Director of CTRC. “For riders with disabilities, horse showing is about more than competition—it builds confidence, celebrates progress, and fosters a sense of achievement. For many of our riders, they attend on the sidelines of their siblings' sporting events or other activities. This CTRC Horse Show allows our participants a chance to shine in ways they can't find anywhere else, and that is priceless.”

At the event, riders of all ages and skill levels will showcase a variety of equestrian abilities, from balancing while seated and steering to navigating a horse through a trail obstacle course. Participants will highlight their diverse riding accomplishments, with many reaching this moment as a result of months or even years of dedication and hard work. Their achievements reflect the transformative impact of therapeutic riding.

The CTRC Horse Show is open to all CTRC riders and participants, allowing everyone to take part, regardless of experience. This inclusive environment fosters confidence, camaraderie, and a celebration of achievement among our riders, instructors, and the community.

"This show is vital for CTRC, as it brings our community together to support our riders and continues our mission of changing lives through equine-assisted activities,” Bruhn said. “The support of our sponsors makes all of this possible and helps us create a lasting impact for everyone involved."
