Milliken resident, Aline Marie Cochron announced that she will be running for the

District 2 Weld County Council position, currently occupied by Jordan Jemiola, who is not

running. District 2 includes Johnstown, Milliken, Berthoud, Mead, Firestone, Longmont, and

Frederick.

Although Ms. Cochron, who has lived in Weld County since 2013, has never previously held

elected office, she has been active in county affairs, especially social services. She served as a volunteer for 3 years on the Juvenile Community Review Board, which encourages state and local government cooperation concerning adjudicated delinquent youth and for two years on the County’s Child Protection Citizen Review Panel. From 2015 to 2017, Ms. Cochron was the Vice-President of the Colorado Early Education Network, also known as Head Start. Of her volunteer service on these boards, Ms. Cochron said “Our children are the future, not only of Weld County but also the state and country. Providing for their safety and security is one of the most important roles for a citizen.”

As a resident of Weld County, she has witnessed the frequent dysfunction of the council as well as the Board of Commissioners. “It’s time for new faces on the County Council that will work to better define its role and build a solid relationship with the elected officials. At the same time, the council’s oversight role must be strengthened so that Weld County citizens get the benefits intended by the Home Rule Charter.”

Ms. Cochron has worked for 10 years at The Home Depot where she is currently a Supervisor and Jill-of-All-Trades. She attended Metro State College where she completed her degree in languages with a focus on French and German, and attended CU Denver for her post graduate work. She has been active in supporting issues related to the 2nd amendment, including participating in Rally for Our Rights activities and testifying before the State Senate.

While the role of citizen activist consumes much of her time, Marie’s other interests include

spending time with her family, camping, reading mysteries and competition level shooting.
