Recent rain and snow storms have raised humidity levels and impacted fuels moisture in Boulder County, decreasing fire danger. The situation prompted Sheriff Joe Pelle today to drop Stage 1 fire restrictions that were in place in unincorporated portions of the county.
Relying on the competent scientific evidence provided by the National Weather Service, Pelle determined the conditions are such that fire restrictions are no longer necessary in unincorporated Boulder County, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Permits are still required for slash burning and broadcast burns, also known as prescribed burns, the news release states.
Permits are available online at: www.bouldercounty.org/safety/fire/pages/openburnpermit.aspx or at the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, located at 5600 Flatiron Pkwy., Boulder or the Sheriff’s Office Fire Cache, located at 3116 Longhorn Rd., Boulder.
