Despite a drop in COVID-19 cases in Boulder County, the county’s mask mandate for all indoor public places remains in place, said Angela Simental, spokeswoman for Boulder County Public Health.
Boulder County remains in High Transmission status along with the rest of Colorado, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tracker, Simental said.
Once COVID-19 transmission levels drop to low or moderate for 21 consecutive days, the county’s mask order will be lifted, according to Boulder County Public Health. The county has had at least 100 new cases per 100,000 people in the past seven days.
“Boulder County’s mask order guarantees that Boulder County residents can access the resources they depend on every day,” Simental said via email. “However, BCPH is constantly evaluating important public health metrics, including the severity and impact of omicron (variant), the availability of treatments to all age groups and the availability of testing and high-quality masks.”
“At this time,” Simental said, “the order remains in effect for all public spaces.”
The Boulder County Board of Health will discuss the mask order at its Feb. 14 meeting.
Denver, Arapahoe and Adams counties are dropping their mask mandates for businesses and indoor public spaces later this week, according to the Denver Post.
