Boulder County commissioners to get first look at 2021 budget during Tuesday virtual meeting

A public hearing during which residents can comment on the recommended budget is scheduled for 3 p.m. Oct. 27.

Commissioners will hear a presentation on the recommended Boulder County 2021 budget during a virtual public meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Public comment will not be taken during the meeting, but it can be viewed here

The recommended budget is a baseline budget prepared by the Office of Financial Management to serve as a starting point for commissioners to consider in advance of setting a balanced budget for the upcoming year, according to a news release. The budget must be approved by Dec. 15.

Tuesday’s presentation will include a review of county funds and a description of expenditures recommended for inclusion in the 2021 budget, as well as a preliminary 2021 revenue forecast, according to the release. Revenue expectations will be updated throughout the fall as more detailed projections become available, according to the release.

A copy of the recommended 2021 budget will be posted on the county’s budget webpage after Tuesday’s meeting. 

A public hearing during which residents can comment on the recommended budget is scheduled for 3 p.m. Oct. 27. Public comments also can be submitted Tuesday through Oct. 27 via an online comment form or by mail to Boulder County Commissioners’ Office, P.O. Box 471, Boulder 80306.

Additional requests, priorities and adjustments to the 2021 recommended budget will be considered by commissioners at their annual budget work session on Nov. 10, with the final budget scheduled to be adopted by commissioners on Dec. 8, according to the release.
