The public is invited to a Aug. 30 virtual meeting to discuss the proposed construction of a bike path along the Diagonal Highway or Colo. 119 between Longmont and Boulder.

The meeting is scheduled between 5:30-7 p.m. and is hosted by Boulder County’s Community Planning and Permitting Department and the Colorado Department of Transportation. Besides the bikeway, CDOT will also provide an overview of other projects along the Diagonal, according to a Boulder County news release.

People can register at  www.boco.org/CO119August

Staff members will discuss the conceptual design of the bikeway and potential connections at the north and south ends of the project. Participants can ask questions and provide feedback on the design of the bike path, the news release states.

The goal of the bikeway is to provide year-round, safe, direct, accessible and comfortable bike facility with seamless connections to transit, neighborhoods, businesses and local walking and bicycling paths, according to the news release.

The idea for the bikeway first emerged in the Northwest Area Mobility Study and later studied in the 2019 Planning and Environmental Linkages, developed by Boulder County, CDOT, RTD and local municipalities, the news release said.

The overall corridor vision includes:

  • Bus Rapid Transit
  • Intersection improvements
  • Separated Bikeway Multi-Use Path

The meeting will be recorded for later viewing for those unable to attend. For more information on the meeting, contact Alexandra Phillips, Boulder County Bicycle Partner, at 303-441-4520, or [email protected].
