Acme Bicycles announced it will close on Oct. 28, 2023

Acme Bicycles, Longmont's oldest bike shop, has announced they will be closing their shop permanently on October 28, 2023.

Throughout its twenty-two year journey, Acme Bicycles has offered an extensive selection of high-quality bicycle products and exceptional repair services.

Acme Bicycles opened in 2001 in Longmont, Colorado. The store was in part a tribute to owner Pete Schones' decorated grandfather, Ferenc Barvik, a record holding member of the Hungarian National Team. The Schones family had a deep passion for cycling, beginning in the mid-1960s when Barvik, opened Denver's first professional bike shop.

After two decades of dedicated service to the cycling community, the decision to close Acme Bicycles was not made lightly. The lease on the building will end in November and after 39 years in the bicycle industry, Schones decided now is the time to retire.

Pete Schones and the entire Acme Bicycles family extend their deepest gratitude to the Longmont community for their unwavering support throughout the years. As a gesture of appreciation, Acme Bicycles will be hosting a farewell sale and will offer exclusive discounts on select products.
