LONGMONT - 3rd Shot Pickleball, a pickleball club in Longmont, will host a free pickleball event from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 25 with Moment Pickleball, a pickleball training business based in Boulder. The event is part of an initiative called Moment Connects, which was launched this month by Moment Pickleball in collaboration with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Boulder County.
The goal of the Moment Connects initiative is to host free two-hour open pickleball sessions to players of all skill levels in order to promote inclusive spaces that promote connection and mental wellbeing.
“We see pickleball as more than just a game,” says Scott Weiss, founder of Moment Pickleball. “It’s a powerful way to unite people.”
No prior experience is required to attend the event and equipment will be provided. Representatives from NAMI Boulder County and Moment Connects ambassadors will be in attendance to facilitate conversations and provide mental health resources throughout the event.
“Programs like Moment Connects are crucial for reducing stigma and fostering understanding,” says Jack Kim, the executive director of NAMI Boulder County. “By working with Moment Pickleball, we’re making the conversation around mental health more approachable and engaging.”
3rd Shot Pickleball is located at 20 S. Bowen St., in Longmont. To RSVP, visit moment-connects.org. For more information, contact [email protected].
