Bubble tea fans will soon have a new option in Longmont — Kung Fu Tea is set to open its doors by the end of May in Village at the Peaks.
Tamding Chophel, the owner of the new Kung Fu Tea franchise, said he’s thrilled to be opening his business in Longmont.
“I grew up in the Boulder area and have always loved the surrounding neighbor towns,” Chophel said. “When I got a chance to open this business, I knew the Village at the Peaks would be the perfect area because it’s up and coming, safe, and above all, family friendly.”
The new shop will serve classic, milk and fruit teas, with a choice of added bubbles, beans and jellies.
Chophel said his franchise, which is known for brewing fresh tea every few hours, will hold itself to “uncompromisingly high standards.”
“Absolutely no shortcuts, because customers can tell,” he said. “Even if that means paying a premium for all our ingredients.”
The new shop, which is still under construction, will feature dark wood laminate flooring and white walls, he said.
“We wanted to keep the design clean, simple and natural,” Chophel explained.
Kung Fu Tea is slated to host a soft opening at the end of May, followed by a grand opening a few weeks later. Chophel said he’ll focus on training staff and “having all the moving parts up and running efficiently” during the soft opening.
Over the past 13 years, the popular Kung Fu Tea brand has grown rapidly — it now has more than 350 locations across the country, making it the largest bubble tea brand in the nation. Kung Fu Tea was founded in Queens, New York, by four entrepreneurs who wanted to share authentic Taiwanese bubble tea with America.
Longmont’s Kung Fu Tea shop is among several new businesses opening their doors in the Village at the Peaks shopping center.
