Minuteman Press on Main Street is celebrating one year of business since acquiring and rebranding longtime running independent print shop Ron's Printing Center.
The Farmingdale, New York-headquartered Minuteman Press has around 1,000 locations worldwide, according to its website. The chain of commercial printers has a franchise program that buys already established printing businesses and “converts” them into a Minuteman Press.
The Longmont owner Avi Kumar, who also owns a Minuteman Press in Greeley, purchased Ron’s Printing Center at 420 Main St. in February 2021, according to a news release. Ron’s Printing Center establishment in Longmont for more than 40 years interested Minuteman Press.
“The main advantage was to extend profitability and expand our business in Northern Colorado,” Kumar said in a written statement. “Another advantage was that we did not have to spend a lot of extra effort in marketing this as a new business because Ron’s Printing Center had been established for a long time. The employees were all very hands-on and diligent and we were able to retain them all.”
Since changing ownership, Minuteman Press expanded offerings with mailings, promotional products and apparel, Kumar added.
