In the 1980s, Susan Pratt, from the well-known Pratt family in Longmont, vowed that no person would have to leave Longmont to receive cancer treatment. Pratt’s mother Hope had been diagnosed with cancer and spent many hours traveling to Denver and San Francisco to receive the treatment she needed. On Thursday, the treatment center in Longmont celebrated an expansion of its services at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Hope Cancer Center is located in the Longmont United Hospital Medical Office Building at 2030 Mountain View Ste. 540.
The center treats patients with breast, lung, skin, colon and prostate cancer. The center now offers chemotherapy and medical oncology in addition to radiation oncology treatments. The expansion now offers private rooms for chemotherapy and other infusion treatments.
“When I think about this space and our caregivers and physicians and individuals who help support our caregivers, it really brings to mind that they’re a special breed of people to help people through a journey that is frightening and uncertain … It’s truly sacred work,” said Deb Mokesky, CEO of Longmont United Hosptial.
