On Sunday, CYCLOHOPS Bike CANtina, located at 600 S. Airport Rd. announced that it is closing on March 30.
“The challenges that come with running a business in this industry have brought us to this decision and it has been a very difficult and emotional one. We are so sad to say goodbye after 10 years,” stated Anita Gray, owner of the restaurant on Facebook.
CYCLHOPS opened in Dec. 2013 under Oskar Blues. In 2019, Oskar Blues began focusing on its branded restaurants which allowed Gray to purchase the restaurant.
The restaurant served an array of Mexican food comprised of casual dishes made from scratch.
“I think I love the people more than anything because it's a people business. I mean we provide food, great drinks, and you know, I have this fun decorated cool building,” Gray said. “But you know, I don't think it really means anything if you don't have the right people to first of all work with, and second of all that come in here every day,” Gray told the Leader in an interview in 2021.
In her farewell post, Gray emphasized how special the restaurant’s staff had become, “We became a family. We are so very grateful for the love and tremendous efforts, you are all amazing.”
She continued to praise patrons of the restaurant, stating that she could not have lasted the last 10 years without them.
“This is a bittersweet choice and a most difficult decision, to say the least,” Gray said on Facebook. “Once again, our deepest gratitude with our very best and sincerest wishes, we hope that you stay safe and take care of each other. We will miss you all so very much.”
REEB Cycle, the bike shop within CYCLHOPS moved out a few weeks ago. It is relocating to 1225 Boston Ave. and expects to open in May.
