A few reminders as Election Day approaches

Election Day is only a week away but there are a few things voters can check off their list.

Colorado allows residents to register to vote anytime, including on Election Day, Nov. 2. Individuals can register online or on paper. Paper submissions can be mailed, delivered or emailed to the county clerk and recorder.

Monday is the last day registered voters can request a ballot be mailed to them. Boulder County Elections encourages voters to update their address online or call 303-413-7740.

After Monday voters will need to visit a Vote Center where ballots can be cast at that time or individuals can use the Ballot-to-Go service. Registered voters who has lost, damaged or did not receive a ballot can also visit a Vote Center to request a new one. Once a new ballot is issued the old one will be voided. Voters are encouraged to tear up the old ballot and discard/recycle it.

Voters who have yet to return their ballots can drop them off at any Ballot Drop Box locations in Boulder County. These locations are open 24-hours a day up to 7 p.m. on Election Day. Boulder County Elections asks voters to consider voting early as this helps process ballots “efficiently and cuts down on campaign phone calls and texts,” according to the website.

When casting your vote in household with multiple voters, it is recommended to double check that you sign the correct ballot envelope. Ballot signatures are checked for each ballot cast based on the signature associated with your voter registration. The wrong signature slows down the ballot process as officials attempt to verify your signature. It can result in your ballot not being processed, according to a Boulder County Elections newsletter.

To learn more about the election, ballot processing basics, voter statistics, election security and more, Boulder County Elections is hosting a virtual event at noon on Oct. 27. Registration is required to attend.
