A woman accused of shooting a man and kidnapping his child was arrested on Monday in southeastern Colorado.

Crystal Denmon, 26, is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder and first-degree kidnapping.

Authorities located the 7-year-old boy safely after an Amber Alert was issued earlier that day.

Shooting Incident and Amber Alert

Police say the incident began early Monday morning in Lakewood, Colorado.

Denmon allegedly shot a man inside an apartment on Kendall Street around 6 a.m.

The man, who was critically injured, was transported to the hospital for treatment.

After the shooting, officers discovered that the man’s 7-year-old son was missing.

Believing Denmon had taken the child, an Amber Alert was issued, warning that she was “armed and dangerous.”

Law enforcement agencies across the state began searching for the suspect and the boy.

Arrest and Child’s Recovery

Denmon and the child were later spotted near the town of Cheraw, approximately 190 miles southeast of Denver.

Authorities located them in Washington County, where the child was safely recovered at around 3:45 p.m.

Denmon was arrested shortly afterward without further incident. The boy, unharmed, was reunited with his family later that evening.

Law enforcement credited the Amber Alert system and the public's vigilance for the quick resolution of the case.

Legal and Investigation Updates

Denmon is currently in custody on a $500,000 cash-only bond and faces charges including attempted first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, and burglary.

Court documents reveal that she was under a no-contact order, prohibiting her from contacting the boy’s father.

Prosecutors also allege that Denmon had threatened the father’s girlfriend just two weeks before the shooting.

The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office has until December 4 to file formal charges.

Meanwhile, investigators continue to gather evidence in the case.

This incident has raised questions about domestic violence and child safety, highlighting the importance of community awareness in responding to Amber Alerts.
