Timeline of the Incident
The situation began around 9:21 p.m. when several 911 calls came in, reporting gunshots in the area.
Witnesses told police that a white male in dark clothing had come out of the apartment complex and started shooting.
Officers began searching for the suspect, eventually finding him about 30 minutes later at a bus bench near Sable Boulevard and East Kentucky Drive.
As officers tried to set up a safe plan to detain Varupa, he suddenly fired at them, hitting a patrol car.
