A Nebraska man, Micah Rojas, has been found guilty for two counts of sex assault on a child with a pattern of abuse in Weld County. The Weld County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) first received the report about an alleged sexual assault on a minor in October 2023. WSCO was notified of the Weld Country crimes by Nebraska authorities, as Rojas was in custody in Nebraska for a similar crime.

Detectives Jeremy Mclaughlan, Derek Knott, and Matthew Rosten worked the case. Upon receiving the tip, they traveled to North Platte, Nebraska to interview Rojas, who was in custody for a first-degree sex assault case from July 2023. Rojas admitted to the Weld County crimes.

In July 2023, North Platte, Nebraska authorities responded to a 911 call. The caller said she found her grandson, Rojas, having sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl. Authorities found that Rojas had self-inflicted lacerations to his neck.

Rojas was found guilty in April 2024 for attempted first degree sexual assault in Nebraska. He was sentenced to 10–15 years in prison. When WCSO detectives interviewed Rojas, he “admitted to the sex acts he was accused of,” according to the WCSO press release.

Rojas was found guilty by the Weld County courts and on March 28, he was sentenced to 15 years to life for “each count of sex assault on a child with a pattern of abuse.” He was found guilty of two charges related to this case.

“We applaud the effort and commitment our detectives have shown in this case,” the WCSO press release stated. “We appreciate their ongoing dedication to ensuring Weld County remains a safe place.”

The Weld County sentences will be served consecutively after Rojas finishes serving his sentence in Nebraska.
