Around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to reports of an attempted abduction at the Ascent Apartments on East Yale Avenue.

According to the sheriff’s office, a heavyset man estimated to be about 5’10” or 5’11” tall exited a black SUV and approached a 9-year-old boy with a wooden baseball bat.

The suspect told the child to get into the vehicle, but the boy quickly ran inside his apartment, yelling for his mother.

Thankfully, the child’s quick thinking likely prevented what could have been a more serious situation.

The boy’s mother immediately contacted authorities, triggering a swift response from deputies who rushed to the scene.

This close call has left the community deeply concerned, and authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Authorities Release Suspect Description

The suspect is described as a heavyset male with curly hair protruding from the eye holes of a black ski mask.

He was wearing bright orange shoes, black pants, and a hoodie featuring Mickey Mouse.

These distinctive clothing details, combined with his height and build, make him relatively easy to spot.

The sheriff’s office is hopeful that this description will help someone come forward with information that could identify the suspect.

Investigators are particularly focused on identifying him based on these characteristics, which appear to be somewhat unique.

The community’s assistance is crucial in apprehending this individual before he can attempt another similar crime.

Distinctive Vehicle Key to Investigation

The suspect was driving a black SUV with a black Colorado license plate featuring the word “watermelon” in pink lettering.

Toy Story characters Woody and Slinky Dog are displayed under the right taillight. These unique features could help someone recognize the vehicle.

Authorities are urging anyone who might have seen this SUV or knows the man behind the wheel to contact the sheriff’s office immediately at 303-795-4711.

Public assistance could prove crucial in finding the suspect.

The vehicle’s distinctive markings make it relatively easy to identify, and any tips from the public could be the key to cracking this case wide open.
