Robbery Incident at Fast Food Restaurant

Aurora Police responded to a robbery call at a fast food restaurant near the intersection of Peoria Street and East Iliff Avenue.

The two suspects fled in a black Hyundai Tucson, prompting officers to start a pursuit through parts of the city.

As they drove the wrong way down I-225’s southbound lanes, it was clear that they were trying to evade capture.

The chase continued as they continued east on I-70’s westbound lanes, putting the public at risk.

The pursuit was called off temporarily when the suspects exited I-70 near Peoria Street, but police quickly picked it up again once they left the highway.

Police Chase on Interstate 225 and I-70

The suspects drove the wrong way down I-225’s southbound lanes with a police vehicle in pursuit.

It wasn’t long before they turned east onto I-70’s westbound lanes, a dangerous move that forced authorities to disengage temporarily for safety reasons.

However, the chase resumed after the suspects exited I-70 near Peoria.

The situation was high-stakes, with officers needing to balance the urgency of stopping the suspects with ensuring the safety of other drivers on the road.

Once the vehicle was back on city streets, police were able to take up the pursuit once more.

Vehicle Immobilization and Arrests

Officers used a Precision Immobilization Technique to stop the vehicle near 13th Avenue and Potomac Street.

The suspects, identified as a 17-year-old male and a 19-year-old male, were taken into custody without further incident.

One officer sustained minor injuries during the chase and was treated at the scene.

The suspects were also checked out by emergency responders but did not require hospitalization.

The quick action by law enforcement likely prevented more serious outcomes, considering the risky behavior displayed by the suspects during the chase.
