Boulder County, Colo. - Today at approximately 0727 hrs. the Boulder County Communication Center received a call of a vehicle traveling westbound on South Boulder Road from McCaslin Boulevard with heavy front-end damage. It appeared the vehicle had been involved in an accident at an unknown location.
A Boulder County Sheriff’s detective found the vehicle near Mackintosh Academy parked on the side of the road. The detective pulled in behind the vehicle at which point the vehicle took off. Boulder County Sheriff’s deputies got behind the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle continued and failed to yield to the deputies. The vehicle turned onto Foothills Highway and at Colorado Boulevard the driver of the vehicle attempted to intentionally strike a pedestrian who was walking across the road.
Deputies pursued the vehicle toward the Diagonal Highway. Just before Jay Road, a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office sergeant rammed the vehicle, forcing it into a ditch. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot and was pursued by deputies. The suspect attempted to carjack another car, which was parked on the side of the highway and occupied by a male and female. Deputies were able to intervene and take the suspect into custody without further incident.
The 29 year old suspect was charged with one count of Vehicular Eluding, one count of Aggravated Motor Vehicle theft, one count of Criminal Attempt Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, one count of Criminal Attempt Vehicle Assault, one count of Possession of Burglary Tools, one count of Possession of Controlled Substance, one count of Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, one count of Reckless Endangerment and one count of Reckless Driving. Everyone involved in the incident were uninjured.
