Two individuals were involved in a crash in the area of Third Avenue and Coffman Street on Monday around 9:40 a.m. One of the drivers left the scene and later had his license confiscated by the police.

The victim of the crash was driving an Audi Q7 and was headed westbound on Third Avenue when they stopped at a stop light. The car was hit by a 44-year-old man driving a Ford sedan causing damage to the Audi’s driver’s side rear corner area, according to the Longmont Police Department.

The driver of the Audi got out of his car to speak with the driver of the Ford. The suspect stated he was late for a meeting at the Department of Motor Vehicles and drove away.

The driver of the Audi took a photo of the suspect’s car and later described the suspect’s license plate to the police as appearing “altered in color. It was black with green lettering and white mountains.  It also showed a large hood decal of three skulls and a Denver Bronco emblem,” according to LPD.

The suspect later left a voicemail for a Longmont officer stating he was “late for a DMV appointment, got scared, and left,” LPD stated in an email.

The suspect’s license had previously been suspended. On Tuesday, and LPD officer met with the suspect and confiscated his license. He was also given a summons for careless driving and driving on a suspended license.
