Advanced Urgent Care has opened a drive-up COVID testing site at the former MedExpress in Longmont.
The site, 601 S. Main St., is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and is offering PCR and antigen rapid tests, according to a web post.
A PCR test, also called a molecular test, detects genetic material of the coronavirus using a lab technique called polymerase chain reaction, or PCR, according to the Mayo Clinic. The cost of PCR tests at Advanced Urgent Care is $125 and results will be available in three to five days.
Antigen tests are done via a nasal or throat swab and identify protein fragments, or antigens, from the virus, according to the Harvard Health Blog. Results from antigen tests at Advanced Urgent Care will be available the same day, according to the company’s web post. The cost is $95 per test.

Free testing is available at a number of sites in Boulder County, including the fairgrounds in Longmont. The fairgrounds testing site, 9595 Nelson Road, offers PCR tests from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Pre-registration is recommended to speed up results.
