Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on gratitude and extend kindness to those in need.

Across the community, organizations are hosting food drives, preparing meals, and supporting families.

Whether you donate food, funds, or volunteer your time, here are ways to make a difference this holiday season.

Help the Hungry With Turkey Drives

The Denver Rescue Mission is leading a large-scale effort to collect 15,000 turkeys for those in need.

Donations can be dropped off at Red Rocks Church in Lone Tree or other designated locations in the city.

In addition to frozen turkeys, the Mission is asking for boxed mashed potatoes, stuffing, and canned goods like yams and cranberry sauce to prepare holiday meals.

Monetary contributions are another way to support this initiative, helping the Mission purchase needed supplies.

You can also organize your own turkey drive with the Mission's guidance, amplifying the impact and ensuring more families have a memorable Thanksgiving.

Support Families With Thanksgiving Baskets

Mile High United Way is creating Thanksgiving baskets filled with holiday staples for families in need.

Each basket includes sides, ingredients, and grocery store gift cards, with an estimated cost of $75.

Donations of funds or food items are welcome at their Denver outpost on Park Avenue West.

The organization focuses on ensuring that local families have a joyful and complete Thanksgiving experience.

By contributing to this effort, you can directly help households celebrate the holiday with warmth and gratitude.

Volunteer and Donate for Mass Meal Services

Ms. Betty’s Madsgiving is preparing to serve up to 20,000 meals this year to individuals and families.

Chefs Danielle and Tajahi Cooke, who have already served 60,000 meals over five years, are seeking $25,000 in donations to meet their ambitious goal.

Volunteers are a crucial part of this effort and can assist with cooking, prepping, or delivering meals.

Whether you contribute time or money, your help ensures that thousands of people enjoy a delicious and nourishing Thanksgiving meal.

Holiday Assistance and Special Events

The African Community Center is hosting its 19th annual Refugee First Thanksgiving on November 25.

This event features free dinners with traditional and globally inspired dishes, hygiene care bags, and live music and dancing.

Volunteers and donors can support the event by signing up in advance or contributing funds or hygiene items.

Project Angel Heart is delivering medically tailored meals to individuals facing serious illnesses through its Gobble Gobble Give campaign.

Meanwhile, the Community Ministry Food Bank is providing self-shopping holiday boxes to registered households, complete with canned goods, desserts, and gift cards for protein.

Together, these programs ensure no one is left out this Thanksgiving.
