Police in Commerce City are urgently searching for a man who has been electrocuted after charred clothing and a cut wire were discovered during a power outage.

The incident has left investigators puzzled, as the amount of electricity that passed through the wire suggests the man may have suffered severe injuries.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual and locating him.

Discovery of Charred Clothing and Cut Wire

United Power experienced a power outage around 5 p.m. Friday in Commerce City.

When utility crews arrived to inspect the transformer, they found a hacksaw and a cut wire near 10500 Havana Street.

Nearby, officers discovered an abandoned bicycle with charred remains of clothing nearby.

The damage to the clothing indicates that the man came into direct contact with the high-voltage power line, resulting in severe burns and potentially life-threatening injuries.

This disturbance suggests tampering with the transformer, and the area showed signs of clear disturbance, indicating foul play or accidental contact.

Surveillance Video Captures Explosions and a Disturbed Scene

Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured two explosions followed by a person walking away from the scene.

The footage shows that the individual likely suffered a severe electrical shock due to the amount of power that went through the cut wire.

Police believe the person may have been seriously injured and could need medical attention.

They hope someone may recognize the abandoned bicycle and help identify the suspect, who might be in need of urgent care.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Commerce City Police Department to assist in locating the man and understanding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
