One Hospitalized, Cat Rescued in Arapahoe House Fire

A house fire early Monday morning near Cherry Creek State Park sent one person to the hospital and left one pet missing.

Firefighters quickly responded to the blaze in the 14100 block of East Progress Way in Arapahoe County.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Early Morning Fire Response

The fire broke out near Cherry Creek State Park in the early hours of Monday.

Firefighters from South Metro Fire Rescue were called to the scene at 1:15 a.m. and worked quickly to control the flames.

By 3 a.m., the fire was fully contained, but the damage to the home was extensive.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire.

The area, located south of Aurora near Parker Road, saw a large emergency response as crews worked through the night.

Updates on the investigation are expected as officials assess the scene.

Victim and Pet Rescue Efforts

One person managed to escape the burning home and was rushed to the hospital.

The extent of their injuries has not been shared, but they were the only person inside at the time of the fire.

Firefighters ensured no other residents were in the home.

In addition to rescuing the individual, firefighters saved one cat from the fire.

Medics provided oxygen to the animal, which survived the ordeal. However, a second cat remains missing, and efforts to locate the pet are ongoing.
