In a piece published yesterday by WalletHub, a company that compares cities and states in financial categories using research reports, Colorado was ranked as the fourth-most educated state in the country. The company compared all 50 states across 18 metrics relating to factors like educational attainment, school quality, and gaps in achievement between race and gender.

Colorado scored 70.71 points out of 100 and ranked behind Massachusetts (82.28 points), Maryland (75.13 points), and Vermont (73.54 points). The report also named Colorado as having the highest percentage of people who are associate’s degree holders or are college experienced.

WalletHub also reported that Colorado ranked 33 out of 50 for its quality of education.

In response to the story, Colorado Governor Jared Polis posted a statement on X that said he is happy to see Colorado receiving the recognition it deserves.

“From free Universal Preschool saving families thousands and giving Colorado’s youngest students a strong start, to our efforts to save students and educators money and create pathways for students to grow and get good jobs, we continue to raise the bar to ensure every Colorado student can thrive,” he said.
