Next week a favorite swimming spot in Longmont will be open at limited capacity,

The Union Reservoir swim beach will reopen on Monday, but use will be capped at 50 people to observe coronavirus-related safety practices. The beach will be open on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the 50-person capacity has been reached, no other swimmers will be allowed on the beach until someone leaves, according to news release from the city of Longmont.

Staff will man the entrance to the swim beach to ensure the 50-person capacity is observed, and the beach area will be fenced off to maintain the capacity.

Swim beach hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

The dog swim beach and fishing pier remain closed, according to the city.

As with the phased reopening of the Recreation Center and other city pools, guests will be asked to follow general COVID-19 public health guidelines, including maintaining 6 feet of distance from others, wearing a mask when not actively in the water and refraining from gathering, according to the city. The full list of recreation and swim area COVID-19 guidelines and FAQs can be found here.

People who are experiencing symptoms associated with the novel coronavirus, who have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 within the past 14 days, or are in a vulnerable population (older adults and those with underlying health conditions) are asked to stay home. Symptoms of coronavirus include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting and diarrhea.
