A 22-year-old man died this morning at the Boulder County Jail.
Deputies were speaking with the inmate who was in his jail cell and said he was not feeling well when the man lost consciousness, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.
The release said the deputies assessed the inmate and found no pulse. Along with medical staff at the jail, they began resuscitative efforts including CPR and using an AED, the sheriff’s office said.
Efforts continued until the arrival of paramedics, who transported the inmate to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office said no foul play is suspected and the circumstances around his death are not suspicious, adding that the death appears to have been caused by a medical issue.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the decedent after next of kin have been notified and will also determine the cause and manner of death.
This comes less than two months after a 54-year-old male inmate also died at the Boulder County Jail. The sheriff’s office said at that time that the incident appeared to be a medical issue.
