Students from the Flagstaff Academy Green Team hosted a community cleanup project on April 13. The initiative combined the efforts of 51 volunteers to clean up the area around the school.

Volunteers gathered a total of 169 pounds of trash and 44 pounds of recyclable materials from around the neighborhood near the school that includes parks, streets, public spaces and local businesses.

“We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to our community cleanup event,” said

Stacy Wolff, Flagstaff Academy Charter School K-5 science resource teacher and Green Team. “The enthusiasm and energy displayed by our volunteers truly exemplify the power of collective action in creating positive change. Together, we can make a tangible difference in preserving the beauty of our surroundings.”

The event was led by students who worked to coordinate the volunteers and teach the importance of sustainability to the group.
